Commencement

Accessible Parking and Seating for Commencement Ceremonies

Parking
  • Accessible parking for people with disabilities in Lot 88 or 91 near the Kohl Center can be requested by the graduate . Lot 88 is accessible to people who use wheelchairs.
  • Use the Gate B entrance to enter from Lot 88.
  • Use the Gate A entrance to enter from Lot 91.
  • The permits are valid for the day stamped on the front of the permit. It is valid for roughly 1 hour before and after each ceremony that you attend.
  • Golf carts may circulate at the drop-off point in front of the Kohl Center and in both parking lots. They will look for people who need a ride to the door of the Kohl Center. If you or your guest needs this service, have them flag down a golf cart when one drives by.
  • A map showing lot locations can be found at http://www.uwbadgers.com/graphics/maps/2parkmap.jpg
Seating
  • We suggest arriving at the Kohl Center 45 minutes to 1 hour before the ceremony to obtain a seat and to avoid large crowds.
  • Seating areas for wheelchair users are located throughout the Kohl Center. Look for the entrances with the blue and white wheelchair access symbol. An elevator is located to the left of Gate A as you enter the building (near Sections 103 and 104) if you want to go up a level.
  • The top few rows on the first level (the street level entrance) will be reserved for elderly and/or disabled guests who do not use wheelchairs. To ensure that all elderly and disabled guests have accessible seating, we request that only one non-disabled companion sit with the elderly/disabled person.
  • There will be people in red robes at the ceremony called ‘marshals’. These individuals are there to assist elderly and disabled guests. Any questions during the ceremony may be directed to either them or the security guards.
Congratulations to all graduates and good luck in the future!
